1949 MLB baseball World Series By the way, if you're a baseball memorabilia collector, and you don't already have it, Dan Zachofsky's Handbook for Collecting Baseball Memorabilia is a good source for information on baseball memorabilia and collectibles, along with their market values and going prices. The Standard Catalog of Sports Autographs is a popular value guide for autographed memorabilia. If you collect baseball cards, you want the annual Beckett Baseball Card Price Guide. For the latest updates, you should subscribe to Beckett Baseball Card Monthly magazine. You might also want to check out Sign This by Tom Bunevich. I understand it's entertaining even if you're not a serious autograph collector. If you want to sell World Series memorabilia from the 40's, eBay is still your best bet. A dealer will only give you about 50% of the memorabilia's value. Thanks to eBay's extremely active baseball auctions, it's easy for anyone to auction off single items or entire memorabilia collections for their market value.
Have Fun! Chris Whitten, Webmaster P.S. If you're new to eBay or haven't bid in a long time, here are some tips. The first thing you'll need to do is register. This is free and easy. You'll have to provide some basic contact information, but that will be kept completely private. Before you bid on an item I highly recommend checking the seller's "feedback rating." This gives you an indication of how the seller has treated other buyers. Almost everybody ends up with a negative review here and there, but too many is a bad sign. Read the negative comments and decide for yourself. Also be sure to check the shipping and payment details. Some unscrupulous sellers charge too much for shipping and handling. As for payment, I generally want to make sure that the seller accepts PayPal. If you're not familiar with PayPal, it's a very convenient, trustworthy online payment system that enables you to pay securely with a credit card. If you don't have a PayPal account yet, I highly recommend you set one up. It's free. P.P.S. If any of these are closer to home for you, consider: eBay Canada, eBay UK, or eBay Australia.
